Need help with mentally unstable boss

Hello everyone. I have come to the realization that my boss is mentally unstable. I need some help on how to deal with him as I have to be in the office with him five days a week and he only sits a few feet from me. Today, out of the blue, he suddenly tells me that I make people uncomfortable and that he was intimidated by me. The first part is not true. As for the second part, I could see that my boss was irked by something but I couldn't believe him when he said he felt intimidated by me.

I'm a quiet person by nature and I do what I need to do at work to assist my fellow colleagues and to keep operations running smoothly. I'm more of a listener than a speaker. I'm never mean or rude to anyone, and I've certainly never raised a voice against any of my colleagues before. But for some reason, my boss said he doesn't like it when I stare at people and don't engage in conversation with them. I calmly replied that I look at people when they are talking to give them my undivided attention because I think it's rude to turn away from those who are speaking, especially when they're standing so close to me. Even if I don't speak much or have anything to say, I still let the speakers know that I'm listening and paying attention when I look in their direction. My boss didn't accept my reasoning and argued that if I don't have anything engaging to say to people, then I should not look at them at all because he claims that I make them uncomfortable by staring at them. I disagreed with him because, as I stated earlier, I think it's rude to turn away from people who are speaking in close vicinity to me.

I saw no point in trying to reason with him any further on this matter, but I'm concerned that he'll find something else like this to pick on me about. What should I do?
