Need to post for the 48+ hour workers

Just to state: I'm in this sub for a reason. Working your life away is an age old concept that just doesn't cut it anymore. I work with the boomer generation as an electrician. I'm serving 48-65 hours a week(12 hour days) for a paycheck that just gets me by. And still I get heckled that I don't work enough to complain. So my question is: to the folks that have lived the 12 hour shift ( 4 on 4 off)(2 days 2 nights) Is it worth it? Has it affected you long term?
