A few weeks ago the company put out a SEC filing (securities and exchange commission, stock trading) that tanked the company stock price, resulting in cuts and layoffs. Been working as an IT contractor for a large as in multi national telecommunications platform company for ~3 years now.

The company was doing dandy or so everyone believed.
A few weeks ago the company put out a SEC filing (securities and exchange commission, stock trading) that tanked the company stock price, resulting in cuts and layoffs.

Yesterday was the first round of layoffs (I'm getting all of this second hand, as a contractor I don't get told shit)

The company let many people go, from all over the company as you'd expect. These employees were basically called into a remote meeting and told they no longer has positions with the company and that their credentialed access would be disabled by the end of the day.

What made me the most angry and sad is the surprising number of email after email of people's “farewells”

A great deal of the emails I saw yesterday were from people who had literal decades of service to the company…
People with 15, 25, 30 years with the company tossed aside by the end of the day, without so much as a thanks for the hard work., BARELY enough time to send those last emails exclaiming how Wonderful the years of service has been.

All I can think about is the sum total hours of unpaid overtime, stolen labor, traded as “comp time” that those people now former employees will never get compensated for. How many family events or dinners or dates those people missed, proving their loyalty to the company that wouldn't piss on them to put out a fire.

DONT EVER FORGOT

Your employer would fire you in an instant, without a seconds thought, if it would make them more money.
Your employer has no illusionary loyalty to their employees.

These Hos ain't loyal and don't you forget it.
