Never thought this about my own MOTHER

Sorry is format is weird, I am on my phone. So a little story, my girlfriend(25) and motber(48) work together a title loan company. (Already predatory practices as it is) I never knew much about my moms work, other than the occasional complaints from back when I lived at home, but now that my gf works there too I hear about all of it. At the end of each day, they are required to take a bank deposit to the town next to us… It is about 13 mile drive one way so 26 total. I was talking to my gf, and I asked her if she got any sort of mileage reimbursement for using her personal vehicle and she said no she doesn't, they only pay her 30 minutes for her drive. I never knew much about my moms work, other than the occasional complaints from back when I lived at home, but now that my gf works there too I hear about all of it.

So i asked my mom about if they had any kind of policy for mileage reimbursement and she said they just pay the 30 minutes because it is worth more than the mileage pay is… So I asked her again and she said something about their policy says 30 cents a mile. (National standard is 58.5 cents a mile)

So I told her they are basicaly getting screwed out of a minimum of around $1,200 a year for not getting their mileage reimbursement (which in non-taxable), and she had responses like “omg who cares about like $25 a week”… And i just thought to myself… $25 a week is a lot to some people. To some people $25 a week is the only way they can eat, or pay for gas, or get diapers for their baby.

It just really opened my eyes to how different my view on life is from my parents view.
