New boss is an idiot from hell

Two months ago we had a change in management and this new boss is a nightmare and I dont know how to handle it. First of all some important background: in all his employment history he only worked in massive multinational companies with huge manpower pools comprising multiple teams. I work in a medium sized company and our entire department is me and another person and we both are very specialized in a specific area so we have no overlap. we've been complaining about the need for more manpower for years now well before he came but nothing came from it. Now since he came in there are so many issues 1. he want to implement lots of things they used in his old jobs, and they are great systems in theory but its simply not feasible here due to manpower but he is refusing to add additional manpower. 2.…

Now since he came in there are so many issues
1. he want to implement lots of things they used in his old jobs, and they are great systems in theory but its simply not feasible here due to manpower but he is refusing to add additional manpower.
2. to compensate for the manpower issue he wants us to constantly work overtime and weekends to implement all these new systems (we never worked weekends and rarely did OT before)
3. he wants to implement multiple systems concurrently rather than one-by-one (meaning we have to work on multiple projects while maintaining the current systems and mistakes happen because of this and we get chewed up for it)
4. stuff the previous boss did himself he “graciously” delegated to us (meaning even more work)
5. in his latest spark of brilliance he us to know everything the other is currently doing and the progress of the others projects, and attend all projects together so we could take over for each other “just in case one of us is unavaliable” , which is impossible since were specialized in two different fields and have little overlap.
6. he wants all approval to go through him, and daily status reports (something we didnt do, we reported when and if something was needed, and we only needed approval for expenses over a certain point).
7.he doesn't reply to emails where I asked for these approvals and then gets mad for delays because “I didint remind him to review and approve”
8. Previous boss was knowledgeable, and could fill in for us in most critical /time sensitive tasks, New boss doesnt even understand basic operations 2 months in. If someone takes PTO or sickday the rest of the company is fucked and seeing how this boss treats us he'd probably nag us to come to work anyway.

I've argued with my boss several times already over his idiotic decisions and his stupid attitude as if he is still in those massive companies with the required manpower. its physically and mentally draining and I cant work with this clown however due to personal reasons I cant leave until November (but based on the current situation I'll probably quit then) how do I survive till then.
