Disclaimer, Im not a doctor nor do I have a degree for this shit, just speculation
I firmly believe the new CDC guidelines that lower the amount of time you have to be quarantined from 14 to 10 to now 5 days are absolute bullshit and are just designed to put bodies in workspaces. I got covid last week from my job (I work at a nursing home) and my boss told me that since I'm just coughing and don't have a temperature anymore that now I have to come into work today at 7am. My company's protocol is to covid test twice a week, and I asked her if I should bother testing, and she said no bc it would most likely come back positive. This got me thinking that “well if the rapid test came back positive, wouldn't I still be contagious?” She said that a positive covid test wouldn't mean I leave work and that I dont need to change how I normally interact with the clients at the nursing home, and should just not eat near my other coworkers and wear my mask at all times. I really cannot fathom how it would be allowed or encouraged for workers to come to work with a vulnerable population knowing full well they are still testing positive on a covid test (I did take an at home test and it did indeed come up positive still), and I wonder how many other employees at other positions have covid and have to risk giving it to others because of asinine cdc guidelines. Sorry for the long post, I just feel like ranting about how fucked the system (and what seems like Healthcare system more than others sometimes) is in this country.
TL;DR: Got covid at work and 5 days later am still testing positive but have to go to work with close proximity to old people bc boss need workers to come and bill
