New trend: hiring people with the wrong skill set is putting more burden on companies

I came across an article where researchers of recruiting agencies did a survey of business leaders and their hiring results for the last twelve months. Leaders claim they have to pay more than current employees for new hires and furthermore, they mentioned the candidates did not match the role requirements. This results in higher training costs and lower output or productivity. It often resulted in parting ways and again higher recruiting costs. Seriously? Companies lament because they have to pay more than a living wage and moreover, they are hiring the wrong skillset and in the end they blame others? This does not rectify paying minimum wages! (I don't know if I am allowed to share the link to the news article)
