[NJ] Unsure if my bf would be eligible for unemployment?

I’m not sure if this belongs here, so I apologize in advance if this is not typical of this sub. I posted in r/legaladvice but so far no response. And yes, I am aware my bf is a complete idiot. This is in NJ for context. My bf works at a call center for a large financial institution. It’s basically customer service, but instead of helping customers of the bank, he helps the employees in physical locations troubleshoot any issues with the system they use. When he puts a caller on hold, I guess my bf wasn’t aware that the call is still being recorded on his end for quality assurance and any managers reviewing the call can still hear the things he says even if he is on hold. Today his manager was reviewing some calls, and my bf got written up for saying something wildly inappropriate while on hold. 2 weeks ago, his boss sent him a message asking him to do something and apparently he said out loud (to nobody but himself) “get off my dick, Susan.” Kind of funny but also kind of not considering he has said other inappropriate / unprofessional things while on hold, some probably even worse than that.

As of now, he just got written up. But we are both fairly certain they will probably go back and review his past calls and may hear something even worse and potentially fire him at that point. If this happens, would he be eligible for unemployment? It’s to my understanding that if you get fired for misconduct, you cannot get unemployment. But he claims that only pertains to if you did something malicious or negligent and believes he’d still be eligible after a certain period of time.

Just trying to plan ahead and looking to see what our options would be if he ended up being terminated. Let me know if any other information is needed. Thanks!
