So I have just handed in my notice at my job of 5 months with a private health care company. The pay is shocking and management are worse. Given 3 weeks notice despite only technically having to give one, as I am still in probation period. Asked HR to upload my contract as when we first started everyone was paid a month and a half wages in advance, so when you leave if you go without working your notice you have to pay this money back. (I heard that a woman who left before Christmas without working her notice who apparently has been threatened with bailiffs if she doesn’t pay back).
Response from HR was I don’t have access to your contract. I asked, who does? Reply was “it wasn’t uploaded to the system when it was generated”.
Surely they do not have a leg to stand on in this instance as it is a legal document I am entitled to?
Any advice greatly appreciated please as this is my first experience with a company like this. I feel like they aren’t taking me seriously as I am only 22 and everyone else in my branch is at least 20 years my senior.
