I’ve been working for my company for almost 6 years. When I was hired as a full time employee a year ago they did not give a solid outline of maternity benefits or have me sign anything when starting the new position. I told them in December I was pregnant thinking it would give them time to think through their policy as I know it is a very small company.
They let me know this week there is 0 paid maternity leave. I’m frustrated and shocked because they are a “progressive” company in every sense of the word but are not even offering a week of pay. Only that I can use my vacation/ sick time if I want which is very limited
They are even doing a campaign celebrating pregnant mothers for mother’s days but do not care enough to pay for any leave….
Is it an awful thought to want quit over this reason ?
