Hello there,
First time posting.
I'm 26 and working in Belgium in the public sector for an administration.
I'm a fullstack dev, doing .NET/Blazor, people using these technologies are rare here.
I win 2k€ net/month, beside 2k6€ net of prime, we have no advantage.
I have a fixed-term contrat ending the end of the month after 2 years, and they will offer me a contrat for indefinite period (sorry I'm French so don't know the correct terms). I have like 4 big projects currently in dev or maintenance, two of them must be over by the end of the year.
We are a small team of 3 devs, so if I leave they will be in a giant mess, as they are not as good as I am (one working on old tech, the other one has done like 1 bugged project in 2 year), and they won't be able to continue my projects.
It took one year for them to find me, and I was the only one that passed the tests correctly.
During Covid we had 2-3 up to 4 days a week of remote working, and everything went smooth.
But now they don't want to hear about remote working again.
I think I am in a strong position to defend myself to have at least 60% of remote working, otherwise I think I'm going to leave. Even though there are no reason for them to refuse, they will 90% do it because they don't remote working, without any valable reason beside “we can't control what you do”, even though in fact they can with git but they don't even know how to use it.
I live in an area (near Lille – France) where there are a lot of jobs offering at least 60% of remote working, so I don't think I will struggle finding a best place.
I don't have any credit and a good amount of money beside, living with my parents.
What you guys think is better ?
Try to ask for 60% of remote working, but almost be sure to be fired.
OR
Continue to work 5/5 on site, but be certain to have a job.
