I work in I.T. and the past few months there has been more micromanagement. I've never had issues with my other users or customers before this at other companies. Been here six months. The past year or so I've felt like I jumped from one toxic environment to the next and I wonder if IT jobs are just this way or all jobs are, and I'm ready to switch to a different field. One of them claim they have no faith that I can do the job or the I.T. work. I get all my work done every day, make sure the user is satisfied, and make sure I have no further work. There's definitely something fishy going on in the higher ups there. I had to speak with HR who said, “If there's no work then you have to ask for more work!” What, am I going to go help other sites with their workload or ask a user to destroy something on their hardware or software to make more work for me? Everyone else can work from home but IT are not allowed to (in order to support the site). (Let me add I know these people aren't working all the time, especially the users I support).
I need some input but I'm pretty sure it's “jump ship and find something better.”
I've heard they did this to the person before the person who left my position, and the person who was promoted from mine hates it and wish she had stayed in mine (she literally told me this lol).
