Non-compete contracts in the salon industry , why doesn’t anyone talk about them more?

Been a hair stylist for several years and a really common thing in almost every salon is a non compete contract, usually outlining you cannot work at any salon or provide salon services within a certain mile radius from your old salon. (Usually 25 miles) which as you can guess, unless you wanna work super fuckin far away from where you live 25 miles is very far. This basically locks you into being unemployable in that field for about a year. Some salon owners are very petty and will peruse legal action against you and sue you if you try to work again within that year. Some don’t care as long as you don’t take your clients. But either way you’re losing out on money Cus for some reason in the beauty industry you sign away your right to your time building a clientele and education if you decide to…

Basically entrapping many stylists into terrible jobs cause they don’t wanna deal with a legal battle over quitting.
