Of course work is good. There are lots of people who feel accomplished by their work, some people spend their time in their garden, making tomatoes or trimming the loan.
What is bad, however is paid work. It’s making someone’s survival on whether they can do that work. If you worry that no one is going to do the unpleasant jobs, it means that the people doing the unpleasant jobs have to do them, they are forced to do them; the difference between that and slavery is not very large. As humanist, I’m against that. I’m also against treating people like a tool. When a chainsaw can’t cut wood anymore, it’s thrown away, into the garbage. People shouldn’t be treated the same. You shouldn’t throw away people who for some reason can’t or don’t want to work. People are not tools, they are not the means to achieving something.
