I work in IT, in the infrastructure department. Basically troubleshooting pcs for a local large financial institution
I’m a student and I’m only here for the year until August, I started in may
It was in my contract that I would be doing 2 days in the office and the rest of the week remote, which I liked and was a reason why I joined them
I’m the only one in the whole building that is in 5 days a week. There are other students in the developer side that do 2 days a week
I’m just so burned out from sitting in the office all day doing things that I can do remote, and things that I can do in the space of 30 mins, that’s practically all i spend doing actual work
It’s lead to me taking days off work, I make up excuses about appointments and sickness, i dont do it that often
I text my manager I had a dentist appointment and he said it was ‘not ideal, but take it off anyways’ – I mean stfu if I wasn’t in all week unlike everyone else I’d be way more productive
I asked my boss about this and he said that I need to be in the office because ‘it’s important experience for your future jobs’ – that doesn’t make sense since remote working, or the hybrid model is the future, for my profession anyways
Has it put me off staying with the company after my placement is up? Yep.
I guess it’s woke me up to the fact I don’t want to be doing 9-5s all my life and need an alternative source of income
Am I right to be pissed?
