Not sure if this is the right subreddit for this so please let me know.
So I had to fly out of state, leaving to the airport at 5 am and finally landing at 3pm. Once I got to my workplace from the airport about an hour later, I had to work up until midnight to help my boss. I was exhausted. I had been up since 2am and didn't expect to work a full shift after flying in. I'm an hourly employee, so when I asked my boss what hours I should clock in for they said just put 8 hours. I thought I'd be paid for the travel time since I'm an hourly employee and this is outside my usual commute.
I live in Washington state.
Is this true? The hours I spent at the airport and flying don't count as work, but it's not fair because then I wasted hours of my personal time. And when I fly back home, Ill be wasting more of my personal time.
