Not getting opportunities to grow because I’m not Korean :(

I work for the US branch of a large Korean company. I'm on a 3-person team and the only non-Korean. This team is a part of a larger 8-person team. 2 of us are not Korean. The Head of the Teams is the COO, how only speaks Korean during meetings. My closet peer is a native Korean and is getting a lot more extra work that is moving her closer to senior. It seems that is because those extra duties come from the COO who will not carry on an English conversation. He will email English, that that is all. I'm bored at my job. I feel like I have no room for growth because I won't get extra duties because I'm not fluent in Korean. I'm bored at my job. I feel like I have no room for growth because I won't get extra duties because I'm not fluent in Korean. My attitude right now is to do just enough for the job to not get fired while I learn new skills to get a better job. But I'd like to get promoted since I'm meeting and at times exceeding goals. What should I do to create more opportunity?
