Not going to be paid if I go over my scheduled time

Started working as a Dietary Aide and it is a job that is forgotten in the health field. Everything has been about nurses and PSW's. The DA are overworked, not paid enough and is the last for any form of extra money going into hiring more to lessen the work load or keep the ones they have. The people they are talking about have been working there for atleast over a year. I have heard from some that they come in early to keep up without getting paid and some when new went over the time limit but were not paid for it. They just accept it as a norm. Yes, we are unionized but are always told there is no money. I will stick with it this week but will probably quit after.
