Wanted to bring some positivity here. I work for an enormous company (think Fortune 150) with 100k+ employees. My supervisor and boss told me when I let them know my son might be born early that “your health and the health of your wife and son are more important than quarterly reports”. I’m taking 6 weeks of fully paid paternity leave (in US so that’s actually pretty good for here as sad as that is) and they are totally fine with it. I’m super lucky to have the bosses I do and I appreciate it. I wish everyone had my kind of bosses, and there’s no reason they shouldn’t.
Don’t get me wrong, I think everyone should get fully paid months and months of leave when having a baby and it should be universal but to support my family I’ll take what I can get I guess.
