I need to hire a new team and my HR is telling me to make them record videos of themselves answering questions to do the initial screening. We have some website we pay for to do this. This is a human services job and to me that seems like an asshole move in the hiring process. But the next steps apparently are: Then do a phone interview. Then do an in person interview. THEN have them shadow. Then hire.
Are they crazy?? The video seems impersonal. That is too many damn steps to get a job. I usually hire by word of mouth or referral with much less steps. I dont have any referrals for these so I was going to HR.
Ideas to make this shit easier on the candidates?
