I used to work at a small family-owned coffee shop about a year ago and reported them for wage theft among other things when I quit. I had plenty of proof. Apparently they got investigated and were not happy. I would see them around town and they would be passive aggressive towards me.
Today, my mom told me my boss contacted her in the comments of a Facebook post to tattle on me(I'm 20) for reporting her. My mom said it wasn't her fight but she saw the paychecks and they were wrong.
Just the audacity to say that stuff in public…like…what? She was paying me under minimum wage and taking the credit card tips, as well as having us clock in and out wrong so she could pay us even less than that. I was working like 60 hours a week and only made $12,000 USD/year.
Lesson learned for me, I don't work for family-owned businesses anymore ¯_ಠ_ಠ_/¯
