Old employers trying to hunt down the rat who called the MOL.

It was me. I quit a job a few months back after working there for a few years. My buddy who has a good standing there as supervisor, got me the job in the first place. Over the course of that time I experienced countless unsafe practices, no worker rights education, being forced to drive unsafe vehicles and my job was threatened when I told them I could not do a job by myself when that job had already injured me a year prior because I was doing it alone (this is the tip of the iceberg). Oddly enough what drove me out was that I was being overworked when I had signed on for a specific time frame of day. I had never complained about being overworked until I had two 12 hour shifts 7 hours apart. My commute was about an hour both ways. I told them I…

I told them I would still come in for the start time but I needed the second shift to be shortened to 8 1/2 hours no matter what. I had to argue with them for almost 30 minutes before they gave in.

I got a new job and called the MOL immediately after starting. Should have done it sooner. I reported everything in detail. Sure enough MOL showed up at my old workplace and told telling them to fix everything. It's costing them money and they are pissed. My friend who got me the job is now telling me they are actively trying to figure out who the rat is.

Go figure, they think it's someone who has quit or is quiting. The owner stated “In 20 years no one has ever called the MOL on me.” Like dude maybe it's because you would hunt them down and try to punish them in some way. Or maybe it's because you literally don't have an OSHA book anywhere for the employees and they are uninformed that what your doing is wrong.

Even if I had reported while still working and they tried to retaliate I could have lawyered up right? Just felt so hopeless at the time.

I feel like an idiot for not doing something sooner. This shit just makes me sick. At least my friend will be working in a safer environment now.
