brand new restaurant, opened a month ago.
For the first week we all got our contracted hours, then they started taking some of our shifts (often on the day of the shift) claiming to have gone over payroll budget.
like ok..
anyway this kept happening, they’d take shifts or shorten them without informing us, claiming to ‘not be busy’.
I live really close, and often when they tell people not to come in when they’re ‘not busy’ it’s heaving and the staff are so overwhelmed.
for example, tonight (saturday) 2 people have been told not to come in. it is a saturday night and the restaurant is on one of the busiest streets in the town center, there is always fucking queues out the door and staff are struggling.
what can we even do in this situation??
tldr- no one getting contracted hours, company lying about not being busy enough to pay people etc
