- Took parental leave per ESA and advised of my employer of duration/return date.
- Return date is approaching and employer advises they restructured the department.
- I am told:
- Old job (“Manager A”) no longer exists and does not involve complex strategic project work (“Project A”);
- New job (“Manager B”) has fundamental changes, including the title, and does involve complex work and less appealing to me. In other words, this is not a comparable job from my perspective (although they have it evaluated as a Manager).
- During my leave, they hired a permanent FTE as a Sr. Manager for to purpose to “take on the strategic and complex nature” of “Project A”.
- I am told after 6 months that “it didn't work out for the Sr. Manager”. The person is taken off of Project A, demoted to a Manager under the same department.
- I am now told to turn to the new job as “Manager B” running with “Project A”. Without any regard to my compensation, input, etc.
I advised my manager I am happy to take on Project A, at the right price.
I advised I can only return if this is labelled a Sr. Mgr and they give me a 30% raise.
I'm I wrong here? What is likely going to come out of this shit show?
