A couple of years ago I worked for a tractor dealership company at their corporate office. PTO was pretty much the ONLY means of getting time off work. Doctor's appointment? Hope you got PTO. Not feeling well? Hope you got PTO. Not only was PTO the only option, but they made you take a MINIMUM of 4 hours. So you either worked a full day, a half day, or no day.
Then, COVID hit. It seems like almost IMMEDIATELY after the lock down mandates started being handed down, the company higher ups released a policy. Because our company fell under agriculture, the mandates did not apply. If you got the Rona, you were required to miss at least a week and then test negative before you were allowed to come back. If you don't have PTO, guess what? YOU. DID. NOT. GET. PAID!!! Period. No negotiations.
PTO reset at the beginning of every year. Luckily, the CEO was GRACIOUS enough that he gave everyone in the company a week off for Christmas though, so…you know…there was that…still didn't stop people from LITERALLY having COVID at work and not telling anyone because they (surprisingly) enjoy having a home and bills paid.
And wouldn't you Fing know it, I get COVID 2 days after new years!! F that place!
