So a little background… I have worked at this property management company for almost 2 years. I recently had my spouse apply since I’ve had a pretty good experience with it. I’ve moved up quickly and it’s felt like a long term position for me.
All that changed when he was hired. We work at different properties due to our company’s policies. So I had no idea that the manager at his property was so rude, hangs up on employees when they’re just asking questions, and just doesn’t do her job how she’s suppose to. Basically, if you’re not her best friend and talk smack about the residents with her, you’re out of the clique and your time is numbered.
He had worked at the property 3 weeks before my schedule had to get switched to overnights due to a maternity leave. So the company did us a “favor” by switching his temporarily since we have one car and live 40 minutes away.
Well now the employee who was doing the overnights originally has been promoted to “lead” and that position is the same timeframe as my spouses original position.. and our company just posted for an overnight position at that property.
I haven’t told my spouse I found this posting yet. My property manager is the hiring for our properties so she had to know this was going on.
My question.. do I call her and ask what’s going on tomorrow, or do we just assume the worst that he’s getting fired and find new jobs and move on?
I’m just so blown away that this has all gone down this way. I had respect for this company and now it’s just gone.
Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
Edit for clarity: we originally worked Monday- Friday 7am-3pm, then we got switched 11pm-7am so I could cover the one employees maternity leave at my property. Now the original overnight at his property has been promoted to “lead” from 7-3 and there’s only one day position available. So my spouse will not be going back to days but they have posted a new overnight position for his property so it sounds like they’re not planning on keeping him after this.
