Our management put an employee with 3 months of experience in charge of us today.

At my job, whenever there’s no manager or supervisor for the day, they pick one of the regular employees to run the team. For several months they would pick me and a couple of other veterans to run our team whenever this would happen, and around two months ago they promoted our supervisor to salary without picking someone to start immediately. So for a month I was doing the job of a manager almost everyday under the impression and being essentially gaslighted on my odds of replacing said manager. I know, I shouldn’t of allowed them to exploit me, but they basically forced it on me almost everyday. They then denied me the position due to the simple fact they did not want to promote from within the department. Which really means I had no odds of getting it whatsoever.

So ever since, whenever there’s a day without a supervisor, I’ve stepped back and began sticking strictly to my base employee duties. On top of this one of our current supervisor (that’s been over us two years now) heavily relies on me feeding them input and planning to help her run the team. I’ve stepped back from this as well and our whole team is crumbling. Work is becoming more and more of a headache each day I go in. Today one of our supervisors called in and lately whenever they try dumping the duty onto me I’ve been heavily resistant to it. The other veterans also try to avoid doing it so they dumped it on a 19 year old who has been with us for less than three months.

It was a comedy of errors. Not even half of our daily duties were completed and several team members walked out. All because our management doesn’t want (or most likely doesn’t know how) to run our team.

I feel trapped at this job. I lost my fiancé a year ago so it cut the income of our household in half. Not much in my area gives consistent hours and scheduling like this one. Im afraid if I go somewhere that pays more an hour I’ll just be given as few hours as possible. Anyone else felt this way? Can anyone offer job suggestions for someone with an associates that could fit the schedule of a college student?
