Over Qualified?

I honestly thought I'd never have anything to post in here, then I had a job interview last week. I put in for a different job at my current company. Even though it paid less than my current wage, it was work I love to do. At the end of my interview, the manager told me I was over qualified for the position. (The job was given to someone who had no experience or skill for the job, but more seniority than me.) He recommended that I apply for a similar position that my “advanced skills would be a perfect match for”. I waited with anticipation for the job to post. Now for the fun. The manager stopped me yesterday to ask why he hadn't seen my bid for the other job. It was hard to not laugh when I explained that I was not interested in a job that needed a high skill set, but paid less than the job I was “over qualified” for. He looked confused. Considering we work in finance, I don't know where his confusion came from. Apparently, math is hard.

I'm looking elsewhere.
