Overworked, HR And Boss Threatened To Fire Me For Saying No To Covering More Time

Hello everyone, I have worked for the same company for the last 10 years, I've worked in the same role for the last 8 years, and I am without a doubt statistically the best worker, the most knowledgeable. I also have the 2nd most seniority in terms of work experience. About 10 months ago we received a new Boss. I had been working on many projects far outside of the scope of what I was doing, these duties were also something that nobody else with the same job title with perform. After doing that for so long I opted to start to say no to these projects unless they choose to hire me for the positions I was helping to cover that were no longer filled. Hello everyone,

I have worked for the same company for the last 10 years, I've worked in the same role for the last 8 years, and I am without a doubt statistically the best worker, the most knowledgeable.

So far this year I have worked almost 450 hours extra in terms of overtime. And I'm sure to say no to the extra time as well. Because my manager is badgering me and a one-on-one meeting , I let him know that I was uncomfortable meeting alone with him because of how he was acting in and the fact I had to say no to him multiple times for the same request to work extra. He threatened to fire me if I don't go to the next one on one meeting, so I fired it off to HR and asked why exactly he can threaten this without their backing.

HR views my desire to say no to extra time as me being problematic, they have essentially said if you don't take any time that we are offering you you will be punished up to termination.

Initially I phrased the argument as I am not comfortable being in a one-on-one meeting, and have recently expanded it as to why, because I've worked more than anyone else, and I'm tired and burned out. I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do, I think they're just threatening me to try and get me to get back in line with what they want, but I didn't know there was a better way to approach this.
