First resignation letter help please.

Resignation letter. Good day gentlemen. I am writing this letter today to inform you that I will be leaving company name in 2 weeks time. I have been so happy to have been able to build my career and skills with such an amazing company. I am truly going to miss all the amazing people I have had the privilege of working with over my almost 10 year career here. I have had many highs and lows in this time at company name. I have watched many people come and just as many leave in my time here. I was hoping to not be the one leaving but after many days and nights and a lot of sole searching. I feel my time has come to try a new chapter in my career path. I will always have a place in my heart for every friend I’ve made along the…

We should all support Ukraine, but doesn’t this seem like a very convenient distraction?

A distraction from living wages, corruption in government and in police, as well as a distraction from our fight for the average worker? Don't stop the support for Ukraine, but don't forget our goals.

this sub needs a theme song! (“I need a hero” – parody)

Nobody wants to work anymore I told my shareholders that I'm sorry but if people don't stop being so darn lazy I might have to sell a Ferrari I need some heroes! I need naïve single mothers with low self esteem until they realize it pays $1275 and day-care costs $1350 I need some heroes! People so desperate they buy groceries on their credit cards My minimum wage won't even cover your rent get your bread with 20% APR I bought a yacht and a tennis court with my government bail out loan. Now they act, as taxpayer backed collateral for my summer home! I need some heroes! College graduates in Information technology with at least $80 grand in student debt for jobs we'd rather fill with H1B's I need some heroes! Must have some experience and a masters degree for my internship with no…

How to handle overwork?

Tldr at the end Hey all, I need some help. My fiancee is an English citizen and is currently in a job they hate out of necessity. We have this whole situation with the spouse visa which we need to get married so I can emigrate that necessitates they make above 19,000 GBP per year (my wage can't count toward this total until I have leave to work in the UK). They work in assisted living for people with autism right now and there are 3 services in the town they live in, all of which are understaffed. The job itself would be ideal for them if it weren't for management, low pay, and the insane schedule. None of the employees are allowed to set boundaries with the residents (they'll get told off by the managers if they try to withdraw support because they feel uncomfortable due to sexual advances…

I got severely screwed

So get this. Ive (28) been working for a well known machine shop that produces equipment for 10 years. Proved myself by being the hardest worker in the shop. Literally started from the bottom as an assembler, moved through being a grinder, painter, machinist, to being one of the “on floor” managers of the machine shop. In 2020 I mentioned I was having shoulder pain from doing what I was doing at the time which involved heavily lifting, pneumatic tools and use of slide hammers 500 plus times a day The company denied it being work related and I have had to pay out of pocket for everything. And yes I have lawyered up. After 3 MRI's the first surgeon gave me 3 steroid shots, put me in physical therapy for 8 weeks and sent me back to work. WHILE IM STILL COMPLAINING ABOUT PAIN. 2nd opinion surgeon did 2…

How much of your salary would you trade to be 100% remote work from home?

I’m lucky enough to have two solid offers coming off a bad run with a shitty and disrespectful company. One pays the most I will have ever made but it’s at an enormous (million sqft) manufacturing plant, and the other pays 20% less but it’s completely remote (no office, behind the scenes working with a small team for a b2b company). I don’t want to walk away from the money but I’m wanted to revamp my lifestyle and make more time for my kids.

So… does everyone expect us to act like nothing is going on?

Whenever I talk to people about Ukraine the amount of disinterest, apathy and lack of knowledge on the matter is astounding. “So, what jobs have you applied to?” “. . .” “There's a literal war right now in Europe” “So?” Do people not understand the ramifications? The consequences? What this is going to lead to? I don't even know if the species is going to wiped out in the next few weeks and I get people messaging me from LinkedIn not even phased. Thousands if not tens and hundreds of thousands of lives are going to be lost. This is the most historic event in Europe since WW2 if not the world and people are shrugging it off. Its as if I'm the only one phased by this and everyone is acting like it will all be over soon. Literally fuck my career right now im on edge waiting to…

Should I be upset or just let it go

This week in my city we had some dangerous winter weather come in early Wednesday morning. About half the workers showed up including me, but we were sent home after 45 minutes. Those who didn’t show up will still get paid since the day was cancelled. Thursday the roads were still bad but since we weren’t told the day was cancelled, I drove in. Only 5 workers showed up. After an hour, we were sent home. The day was cancelled again and everyone will get paid, but we were told by text message that all workers will be required to work Friday as a make up day (normally Fridays are off). Friday. Once again only 5 people show up. We work the whole day and work our asses off. Is it fair that all those people who didn’t show up will still get paid? The few of us that came…

four people left the company i work for last year… so where did that extra salary money go?

took this full-time office job out of desperation even though the pay is insultingly low. everyone advised me it would be a “good career move” to get a start in a new industry after leaving my previous work. problem is that now i’m overworked, underpaid and horribly miserable. in the time that i’ve been at this job (about seven months), four people have left the company to go elsewhere. that means more work for me (because i’m the bottom of the ladder) with absolutely no pay rise or mention of how to handle the extra demands. it’s blatantly obvious that this workplace cuts corners with spending, wherever possible, so… where did the salaries of four individual workers go?
