I'm a veterinary receptionist, just left my last clinic due to toxic environment and a total disregard for Covid. I left just before my 3 months, having moved to the area leaving a clinic I absolutely loved after almost 2 years. I started at this new clinic a week ago, and it doesn't officially open for about 2 more weeks. Since starting: -Mask policy has already changed. I specifically asked in the interview, and was told masks were required with no plan to change anytime soon. A week after starting, masks are now optional. -Was told in initial interview and working interview about the system we'd be using. Didn't find out until after starting that actually, everything will be paper records and the system is only for scheduling and invoicing. As receptionist, this drastically changes my role as I'm the one who has to deal with all the charts, and…
If we are selling our labor, why don’t we put a price and minimum/ preferred qualifications for an employer such as health insurance, PTO, 401k, company vehicle, etc? Wage could be listed as a salary/ hourly and the expectation of commission, per dorm, project bonuses, profit sharing, stock options, etc could be shared upfront. If this would become common practice, hiring could become a level playing field.
I am having a surgery at the end of the month. I let my job know in advance about this and let them know when it would happen that I had to quarantine. The hospital was RELIEVED when I mentioned that when arranging my COVID test. My supervisor when I reminded them went ballistic and told me that I had to come in or take the week off. I was like: I am working at home, I did this for two effing years. She said that wasn’t enough. Then less than two weeks before my surgery my cat loses weight, not eating, no bathroom, nothing . I have to bring him to the vet and ask to rotate my schedule to work from home other days, AND rush out one day because he started to crash and the vet wanted to see him immediately, my mom noticed and called me…
Full Article TL;DR Debbie Stevenson was a woman from New York who donated her kidney to get her boss moved high on the priority list for an organ transplant. Debbie wasn’t a match for her boss, but the hospital said if she donated hers, her boss would move higher up on the priority list. Her boss then promptly fired her for taking too long to recover from the transplant.
In January of this year I was fired from my job at a restaurant. The day I was fired I was being yelled at by the manager on duty for not being able to stir a pan of eggs and make the orders I had on the board at the same time. I have been yelled and cussed at by this manager multiple times, I needed to cool off or I was going to say something I would regret so I took my apron off and went outside. I was literally just standing right outside the door (I even left my purse inside indicating that I was not walking out) when the owner pulled up on his truck, saw me, greeted me, and said nothing else. I went back in to finish my shift because I just needed to cool down for a few minutes and was not intending to…
Literally i click on an add for a job and they are like “we want a degree, interpersonal skills, time management, slave mentality, bootlicker etc. And what will you get? ….. Um apply and let us waste your time to find out”
Been at my job for over 10 years and only recently been looking at other jobs. This place is a sinking ship and I can't wait to see how things unfold.
My company is in the midst of a 6 month “trial” of 3x in office, 2 days WFH. I think it’s all but certain that COVID levels will soar with all (correct me if I’m wrong here) all major cities just said “fuck it, no more masks!” With that, do you think companies will return to WFH, until the levels come back down, and they try again? Maybe I’m a pessimist but I can see them just ignoring trends and chugging along with “in office work or GTFO” lol. This all should be said with a disclaimer that I know some of you have never had the chance to WFH due to the nature of your job, or just shitty company that didn’t believe in it. Lastly, since COVID is a deadly disease, I hope I’m wrong and numbers don’t spike, but I think it’s on its way, if not…
