We live in what's called a self cannibalizing society. Poor people who refund Amazon and Uber Eats whilst complaining about not having enough money. You won't refund Amazon out of business, but you will refund that delivery person out of a job. I'm actually from poor neighborhoods (I notice a lot of people on here profess to know what the poor need without having actually been poor and speak broadly as if we all think the same) and from what I can attest to, poor people do far more harm to poor people spiritually than any corporation ever could economically. When the corporation does it, it's just business; when poor people do it, I take that shit personally. I therefore do not subscribe to the ideology that the corporations are responsible for the state that we're in. In order for all corporations to treat us all nice, we need to…

Year of Work, Not a Single Dime.
Hello, I am a massage therapist for a small company that works with disabilities. I also am freelance, and have a second job working at a spa. I have quite a large group of clients working independently, and thats where most of my money comes from. This small company was started by a woman who cannot hold her **** together. It’s unorganized, and every person she has hired as an assistant to help this company has quit. I have worked here for about a year now, and every month I am told I am going to get paid, and yet I havent seen a single check in my name. I found out recently that my boss is currently in a legal battle with an insurance company from one of the clients, and the payout is supposedly “huge” and my boss told me she will be able to pay me after…
I hate my job. I hate feel like a dog begging for scraps. I can’t live like this. I am seriously considering just going part time and going without. I grew up really poor tho and the anxiety of wondering how much every single thing eats into your budget is so strong. Idk which is worse, the dread and horror I feel having to work full time or the dread and anxiety of not having enough to live on. For those that actually don’t work or only work part time what is it like? Do you regret it? Has your life improved or are you not really any happier? What do you do for health insurance? I feel like if I’m never gonna be able to afford buying a house or paying off my student loans or having kids anyway what is the point of working like this? I’m not…
Hi. Just wondering, is 2 weeks' notice by law? Does that also work the other way around? Do you also get a 2 week's notice before they fire you?
Well, to be frank, it's because my dog has to have someone home with him during the day. Since the divorce, I'm the only one not working from home, so he lives with my ex. Don't get me wrong, my ex is a good guy but I want my dog back. Working from home would empower me to use my clinical skills and judgement, while providing my little guy with love and affection all day. Instead I say some shit like “Graduating from my Masters degree program” or “in order to reach a wider demographic of patients/consumers”.
So why should we complain right? Our boomer parents and grandparents are rich and we will inherit their homes and investments? So don’t worry about buying our own homes?
Throwaway account to keep anonymity (I don't want to risk my employer seeing this and having the jump on me), some context (I'll try to keep it somewhat summarised): I (M22) have decided to quit my software engineering job (which happens to be my first and only job ever) and move overseas to my SO. I've been working for the same company for over 6 years. During those 6 years, my role changed substantially, but my title or pay was not. I made just above minimum wage in the UK during that entire time (in fact I was actually paid below minimum wage for over a year which after kindly contacting my manager several times, they finally increased my pay to minimum wage and back paid me what was owed). Also, literally no benefits. Up until Christmas 2020, a 140 hour work week was actually considered a good week. I…
