Capitalism:

It's not about maximizing everyone's potential. It's not about prosperity for the maximum number of people. It's not about the health of the nation, nor the health of the species. It's about getting your small part, no matter what the cost. It's about taking from your brother all you can get. And we wonder why sociopaths rise to the top in our system. We elevate the worst of us into positions of power and authority. It's time for a change…

Didn’t get “credit” for my lead in marketing sales

Just started a new job, we get 3 days of field “shadowing” someone before we do events by ourself. From before I got hired, we were told we would get $40 for each lead that turns into a “demo” aka we send a sales person out to their customers house. Never told differently. During my 3rd shadowing day, I was told I could pitch at the event. So I did. Landed a bunch of good leads and got them set up for sales. Was then told I will not get credit, nor the bonus for them and it will be given to the tenured marketing specialist I was “shadowing”. Is this legal? I was told one thing, never told differently until after I put in the work. I’m so upset rn. $40 may not seem like a lot but after being unemployed for 3 months…. I really need it. Worth…

Debt: The Drug of our Society

If you want to hook somebody in for life, what is the best way to go about it? Make them indebted to you, for life. From the earliest days we are exposed to credit, a piece of plastic or an app that let's you buy things and pay layer. Then, when you are off to college, a simple loan process let's you borrow tens of thousands of dollars. Once you need a car, sign on the dotted line and drive out your new vehicle. Why are you paying rent? Just sign here and you are now a proud owner of a house. Unless you are a trust fund baby, these are pretty much your choices to “live” in the modern world. You will be owned by whomever, and whatever, you sign up for. Then, you will work whatever job, for whatever pay you can get, weather you like it or…

Being lazy can make you work smarter !

So I work in a Hotel as night shift, the front desk is at ground level and I have to leave it to go prepare the breakfast in the morning which is at the first floor, which means that I have to go check every 5 minutes downstairs if there's anyone at the entrance door or the front desk since I can't hear or see anything from the first floor. Which is annoying as fuck, this is a waste of time, it slows my work, also it's some useless added stress to never know when someone's here or not. So, I had a genius-lazy kind idea. I have an old phone at home that I kept for years instead of throwing away. I've come with the idea that if I make a video-call with my phone and my old phone, I could keep an eye and an ear on what's…

Capitalism at Work

Companies are happy with capitalism until there is a worker shortage. They claim laziness and ungrateful employees. But supply & damage is a core tenant of capitalism. The supply of workers is low, so companies will need to pay higher wages. Capitalism at work, pay up.

Accidentally started an uproar

So I work at a preschool, been here just under a year. I got hired on at $15/hr, good for my area and for having no experience or degree. A few months in, I was talking to a few coworkers who had been there significantly longer than me (at the time, I was around 6 months employed and the other girls were over 2 years each) and mentioned my pay without really thinking about it. They were pissed. They had been making $12/hr the ENTIRE time without any raises or bonuses. I encouraged them to go to our boss because obviously, something was wrong. We're all working the same assistant teaching position; why should one person be compensated significantly more with less experience? Well, It ended with EVERYONE getting raises (even I was bumped to $16/hr, my current rate) and my boss posting multiple signs telling us if we “discuss…
