I’ll hit the key points. Call my mom just to chat, eventually we get to talking about how I’m broke and I’m personally okay with that. She goes on with basic phrases “you need to take the tools I gave you to be successful” I replied, “okay but you have those tools too, why is it you don’t have a retirement set up and are still broke, I’m just being realistic, I’ll probably be check to check for the rest of my life and I accept that.” She did not like that. After expressing that I would’ve probably been better off not doing the student loans that she and I were both told to do, she starts going off saying things like “you wouldn’t be happy doing the thing you’re doing” and to me that’s a bad point. That’s like saying “I love my kid I wouldn’t change it for…

I have read lots of comments here now and It feels to me you guys in the US don't know what you fight for. I know lots of u want WFH. I want this to be a thing more here too. I know my health comes first and that I shouldn't stress but I can't help it. Why would I want to work for a company that doesn't care anyway? I love my colleagues and the work isn't bad. I started back with this company last year after they got in touch and said they were inviting people back. I never thought I would go back after being made redundant during the lockdowns, if I'm honest. It's minimum pay, one break which is unpaid and no company benefits. We were and are pushed constantly for unmanageable production as well. But I love my colleagues and we do manage to see each other through. I know there is better for me out there but the employment side of things has been grim for some time. I feel quite blessed being able to walk back into this job (I know, I know!) After…
This school changes a quote daily on their wall where all kids 6-12 would see it. Today's was a real gem: 'If you don't grind, you won't shine.' I've never wanted to tear down something off a wall so fast. The worst part is the quote was attributed to a teacher on staff. Teaching these kids that the 'hussle' is the most important way to succeed makes me sick.
So, my girlfriend got a job at a local clinic at the front desk as the person that checks patients in. She worked previously at a chiropractic clinic, so this job had a lot of similarities. So, yesterday around 10am I got a call from my girlfriend, which is weird because at her new job she can not use her phone during the work day. Sure enough, she was fired. Yesterday was day 11 at the new job. For the first 4 days, she had video trainings talking about sexual harrasment, introduction to her job field, and a brief look into what the job will have for her to do. I see it as she was 7 days into actually hands-on learning the job. She still had quite a lot of programs on the computer to learn. She was fired because “you're taking too long to check in patients.” She…
Seriously. I don't think it's farfetched for people to prioritize their health and well being over work. Hell I would go further and push for a larger raise for 20 hours. What do you think?
