Hi there, Long time fan, first time poster. It seems a lot of the scuzzy things I read are from small employers that put in policies all willy-nilly.might be wrong; but that's how I take them. Just wondering what the group thinks – is it better to work for a small company, mid size (regional or national) company, or a large (multinational) company? I've only worked for large companies in my career, so i have limited experience. We absolutely get dicked over; but it's at least a straightforward dicking.
Any idea what i should expect? Perfect time to unionize?
One week notice
I’m burned out! My manager is leaving and they are giving me her office but no the title. They said I’m not ready yet! I need to quit. I love my field of work and don’t want to burn bridges, but I’m sick to my stomach. I don’t have a plan B yet. I’m interviewing but no offers yet. Is a one week notice unprofessional? Do I tell them I’m leaving without another job? Thanks in advanced
Left a email no one texted me or let me know what happend what tha fuck is this?!!?!?!?! I'm so pissed with this poor ass treatment. I was excited/anxious and preparing this talk cause It was something new and challenging but that's gone. I live in the Netherlands btw. Update – 20 minutes passed, nothing. – Another update we planned it for 2pm and in the email it says 2-2:45 pm and also 1:1:45 pm. Maybe she thought it was 1pm but evenso we communicated 2pm and yeah fuck this Im confused. – Update It seems like it's a common thing I checked the reviews they seem very childish and unprofessional but I didn't think It would be this bad… They are absolutely disgusting. – Update it seems I need to click on mail to accept? LMAO What the hell is this excuse, she didn't mention it. I feel like…
a bit contradictory…
Okay, just fucking do that then?? I ask what it would take to change our company’s holiday schedule, and I get crickets. I get paid well, I actually like my job, but NO ONE likes being forced to not work and not get paid for those days as well. That’s not a “holiday”, it’s a temporary lay-off.
Applied to 17 jobs, heard nothing.
I have no idea what this worker shortage is going on about, I have written cover letters for almost all of these jobs and I've still heard nothing. I know I'm qualified for the jobs. I know I'm available. I should be, at the very least, hearing if I get an interview or not. This is beyond frustrating. Worker shortage my ass, maybe that theory on companies just posting ads to keep getting that PPE loan money or whatever is real. Sorry, I just needed to get this off my chest.
Casually assaulted at work, no big deal
My manager over-served a drunk regular, which led to a fight and me getting thrown down. I’m a bartender in NYC. I work for a small bar/restaurant owned by a couple of guys. I refused to continue serving a customer at 3:00am last night. He was really drunk, and he’s a regular. He was fine with that and was just chatting amongst the others with a club soda. My manager comes over and pours him another. I protested quietly, and explained that he had been cut off already. I was told that we don’t leave our regulars with dry glasses. My guy has been over served before and it’s clear that his issue is feeling comfortable saying no. He’s never really been a problem. So, it’s about closing (3:45am at this point) and he’s trashed from the four other drinks my manager served him. He starts arguing with another customer…
I’ve worked for the same company for over three years, been an incredible employee, have managed to do the job of three people for years, and I’m exhausted. I decided to dye my hair a very unnatural color, and now, a few days later, I’m getting called into a meeting with my boss and grand-boss. Fuck jobs that feel entitled to controlling your appearance. If you’re clean, safe, and the important bits are covered, that’s all that should matter.
I work at a private university as a Graphic Designer on the Marketing Team and found out yesterday afternoon that my boss, our blogger, and all five of our marketing managers were fired on the spot. Apparently the budget didn't allow for both an internal team and working with external vendors, so they chose to fire the people who'd worked for them for years doing the best they could in favor of outsourcing the work to some random firm that knows nothing about us. Myself and the Web Developer were the only ones who weren't let go and we both acknowledge that it's only because of our technical knowledge and access to important assets. Gonna start looking for a new job now, because it feels like it's only a matter of time before they unceremoniously fire us too. Personally I'm absolutely devastated. I've known many of my team members for…
