So I got a decent job offer yesterday and the pay was fine but I know they can do better. I asked if the pay was negotiable but got back a solid no. I ended up requesting a lil more anyways as the “lowest I could accept” and hit send pretty confidently as I feel there is always a little wiggle room in the first offer. Now I'm second guessing. What if they were serious about it and I said that i can't accept the lower offer? Would they rescind the offer or give me one more chance to accept as is? I know they don't really have anyone else except me applying for the position so it really only hurts them in the long run but I still actually want this job. Now I have to wait until next week to find out if they will accept or not.…

I live in New Jersey. I worked at an ice cream shop for 3 years when I was 17 until I was 20. This ice cream shop stole employee time by having a closing manager write the time we “clocked out” but they would write early times to make it seem like we cleaned up earlier. They also would only go by 15 minute blocks because the manager was too lazy to actually add time punches. So if we finished at 1108 they clocked us out at 11. We also had a meeting after clocking out when we would count tips so we were still working off the clock technically. The owner had a huge ego and would hold meeting every year sometimes more for all the stores where he would yell and swear at us. One girl actually passed out during it and crying during them was the norm.…
I had two interviews ghost me this past week. One was for the better because it honestly was a total last resort application, like many others I’ve put in the last few months, the other was an NGO that I’ve always wanted to work for. Let’s just say there was a very good response from the NGO about what happened to my missed phone interview. I go in next week to get the particulars and hopefully get this job. The boss man who called me to make up for his subordinate was really insightful about the position. I explained to him that this was an organization I’ve always wanted to work for yet have never seen the position available before. He literally said to me that due to “what are they calling it? I work in a law firm and my current job title is that of an assistant. For the past 3 years however I've been handling job duties which are more in line with that of a law clerk or even a senior law clerk. All of the lawyers refer to me as their law clerk. As such I decided that I wanted my job title changed, I did not even ask for a raise with this job title change. Today my boss responds saying that they can not change my job title because I did not formally graduate with a Law clerk degree and as such they can't grant me the position. Is this not complete bullshit?
