Which offer do I accept?

So I have two job offers right now. One is a legal assistant/paralegal at 45k with full benefits and would give me really valuable experience if I want to stay on that path. The other is an Admin Assistant/Communications Specialist for a local union at 55k and even better benefits. You guys are probably rolling your eyes thinking DUH TAKE THE 55k but I’m not sure if starting a bit lower as a legal assistant would lead to higher paying legal jobs in the future, over 55k. For reference I majored in political science then went to law school for a year and did a legal internship before dropping out. So I kinda feel like it’s the only industry I can actually break into. Like the communications job won’t lead to other similar positions because I don’t have a major in that. What do you guys think?

Antiwork movies and novels

Antiwork movies I have seen are: Office Space (now on Prime again, was payable till recently) Brazil Metropolis (much of) Quadrophenia 9 to 5 The IT Crowd Sweeney Todd (I think this counts, there is much likening of capitalism to cannibalism) … Any suggestions? Or things with a similar vibe, perhaps more in the anarchist line. This Q was asked not too long back .. but any more suggestions? I also love movies where the protagonist is just an average schmuck, at least until propelled out of their depth by events. I suppose “Total Recall” counts, or sticking with PKD, his “Galactic Pot-Healer” novel. Novels have wider themes, but examples I can think of are The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists (piecework decorators) Saturday Night and Sunday Morning (piecework lathe operator) Charles Bukowski has some of the rejectionist, embrace-dropping-out vibe Some Dickens is horribly realistic about the inhuman conditions of Victorian labour…

It gets harder to wake up

I work for an events arena in lower management, the company also owns our local ski lodge on the mountain. This season I’ve been driving my 2002 Toyota Camry with bald tires up and down the mountain in horrible conditions and risking my life 40-45 hours out of the week all in the name of survival, I’m very young (20) and on my own with my girlfriend so I feel trapped making 13 an hour, and cooking chicken strips for people who are rude and have way more money and time to do shit like ski and buy 7 dollar beers yesterday my car just couldn’t make it, so I met this girl who looked to be about 18 I’d say and a older man who also works for us. she started driving and almost slipped off the road, it was a close ass call In my opinion so we…

Supervisor threatened me with a write up, flipped the script on that hack

I work in a union manufacturing facility. This week, my line has been running like absolute dog shit. Maintenance has been working on it basically around the clock as we continue to run and scrap material that doesn't meet spec. Today, the line is pretty much back on track and whay does management decide to do? Order us to jack up the speed to make up for lost production. Problem being that these lines notoriously run like shit when you speed them up beyond a certain point so I am still looking product due to being out of spec or other quality related issues. My supervisor comes out fuming, yelling about still losing product, asking why, so on. I try to explain what's happening and he cuts me off threatening me with a write up if I don't start sending product. Luckily, we have this nice little form that effectively…
