Don’t want to get into details about DV for privacy reasons, but the situation involves assault and battery. Luckily my boss said I could take time off. However, one of my coworkers LEGIT FUCKING SAID I WAS BEING A BAD TEAMMATE. I have not taken ANY time off since the holidays. I’m an engineer that works an office job, not a doctor doing life saving surgery. This person told me it didn’t seem like I cared about the project or the company, and just thought about myself. It just blows my mind how awful he’s being. I complained to all my coworkers and they’re shocked. Just wanted to share this here – this is life under capitalism – productivity is put above everything

I have been with my current company for seven years and I have averaged a $1 raise each year I have worked here. 7 years, $7. I want to acknowledge the fact that I realize I have it better than many people and am speaking from a position of some privilege as some folks get no raises. If that is you, I'm sorry and you deserve better. I started at an entry level assembly technician position with no experience as I had previously only done customer service and retail. I learned quickly and became the best assembly tech in the department and was put into the lead position when our previous lead left (no raise for that “promotion”). My wife had to take off work for one day a few weeks ago so I could have neck surgery and she could drive me home and watch me the rest of the day. And can you believe she still hasn't heard the end of it. But her boss just took off today on the busiest day of the week, without any notice, to go to a dancing with the stars convention or some bs. God I can't wait till she puts in her notice and leaves them hanging.
