They said they'd train me. They halfassedly tried to. They said when my contract was up they want me on staff. They hired my replacement. They got rid of me 2 days later on a gd Wednesday. If you're not gonna hire me permanently, why act so much like you are? I didn't have another gig lined up because I thought I was getting a staff role, now I'm driving uber for rent money
Are UPS Hub unions still a joke?
I once worked seasonal at a UPS Hub which was also attached to an airport so we packed planes as well. I was very young and this was a seasonal second job I was taking to save money up for cool shit like video games. The job was dangerous, you were mostly needed in the extreme seasons like winter and summer, and you got paid 10.40 an hour and they only had work 4 hours a day for 3 days for each employee because of this and employees had to sign up to be approved to work more. Nearly, everyone besides the managers struggled with money, addictions, and had poor health but insisted everyone join the union. Every time I asked the benefits they simply stated you get to attend meetings and practice safety and possibly bring up more safety practices. That doesn't sound like a bad thing necessarily but…
