What’s a 5 Star review worth?
Online reviews can make or break tour companies. The more 5 star reviews a biz has, the more likely ppl will book with them. Good reviews are an invaluable source for future business. I worked for a tour company that would “reward” their employees for every 5 star review that mentioned their name with handmade scratch and win tickets. Assuming you got a winner, you’d be rewarded with $10 gift certificates to random places; Dunkin’s, Starbucks, Apple, REI, jersey Mike’s. I had earned over 100 scratch and wins tickets. Only 4 of those 100 ended up being winners. Basically 1 in 25. I wonder how much future business the tour company will generate from my 100+ five star reviews. The way management rewarded me, each effort on my part was only worth a 40 cent bonus.
Fuck Bluestone Lane, Fuck Nick Stone
Bluestone Lane is an overpriced cafe founded by millionaire brat Nick Stone. When I say overpriced I mean $15 for avocado toast. Nick Stone flaunts his wealth, the company’s billionaire investors and record setting sales but on March 1st all baristas will be getting a pay cut. Currently cafe baristas receive guaranteed minimum of $22 per hour, made up of $14 an hour base pay, tips and then an additional top up to reach 22. Similarly, coffee shop baristas (who have more responsibility than cafe ones) make guaranteed $20 per hour with a base of $16. It was recently discovered that corporate and management has been hiding the fact that they will be changing the pay to remove all guarantees and lowering the base pay of cafe baristas to ELEVEN DOLLARS AN HOUR. Our customers are majority privileged and wealthy, so they tip like shit. We will likely not make…
Does this give off Coexist vibes?
There's not much to this one. I've made some posts before. I am a “teacher” preschool is almost always a learning center/daycare in this area. I injured my sciatica really bad about 2 months ago now and have been going to physical therapy. I'm getting better, my doc will do nothing for short term disability papers and insists I am able and available for work. I won't get anything in unemployment I've checked. So I sent out my applications, I cast a pretty big net and begrudgingly included the learning center next door as I have experience and a job is better than none. It's listed at minimum wage with benefits but I will likely ask for 2-3$ more as I have been doing this 5+ years. I just … Really didn't wanna do this again. See I love working with kids and being a positive role model like the…
I don’t know how people do it..
Hi there. I am a uni student who study's IT. I also have PTSD. I'm 21 and genuinely have no interest in working full time. I have lost interest in most things. Honestly if I was to work full time in some retail job I would rather unalive myself. Little dark I know I am currently investing and holding those investments for the long term. Mainly in cryptocurrency (I done my research) – I am financially stable and great with money (I don't go out or drink or anything like that) I just don't know how people do it. It seems miserable, the dead end jobs, repetitiveness, people treating you like their emotional punch bag, narcissist employees. I have worked before and I couldn't last. Mainly due to having undiagnosed PTSD up until recently, social anxiety etc etc. Not gonna give a sob story don't worry. Walking into work felt…
I was doing my taxes today and realized I only had 11.00 taken out of my check for Federal Taxes. That 11.00 was taken out of the last check I received in December and my YTD total was 11.00. Together my husband and I made almost 100,000 last year and now we are going to owe money. It does say on my check that I was claiming one exemption. (My husband and I each claim one). I understand that it was my responsibility to check my pay stubs and I know that I do owe the money (and I will pay it), but does the company have any liability? I like my job and want to keep it, so how do I bring this to them. The company has 1500 employees and I know we are getting a lot of calls about incorrect W-2’s. Ironically, I was just promoted to…

6 days a week, mandatory 60hrs a week
I’m struggling with my new job as a dock worker been there for two weeks now was led on to believe it was M-F but turns out Saturday’s are mandatory. Jesus is it grueling. Not only am I basically working outside in the freezing cold I spend more than 10hrs a day in there from 5pm-3:30am and they don’t let you pick your shift. The pay is alright 18$/hr it’s the most money I’ve ever been paid but its not worth being a slave. But at the same time I need to make money. Any advice from people who have held down jobs like these would be appreciated. How do you deal with it?
