Context: I’ve been working at a fairly popular fast food chain for around 3 years. I work a 5 day week and get paid barely minimum wage. What happened: a couple of days or so ago, big boss man who owns all of the restaurants for this particular brand in the region comes in. He does this every now and again, checks up on how the restaurant is, fixes anything that needs to be fixed, etc. He’s been doing this since long before I ever started working here, and then one day he has the gall to tell my supervisor to tell me off for not wearing the “correct attire” (didn’t even tell me himself). So y’all can get a bit of context, the “correct attire” is dark coloured denim jeans along with the company shirt (provided). I was wearing dark coloured pants (not denim cuz denim’s fucking expensive). Now,…
People need jobs – Jobs need people
My first job ever was at a small landscaping company owned by a friend of my Dads. The pay was crap, the work sucked and I had no idea what I was doing. But I was a gamer kid who had never touched tools really so it was whatever. My boss was cool but did not mess around if you pissed him off. We had 4/5 employees and 3 trucks. It was my first job so I was pretty much a Yes Man my first two years, doing some of the dumbest jobs you could think of. I used my own truck to get to jobs and rarely ever got reimbursed for gas money. I was the only one willing to do certain jobs. I did most of my work by myself and ended up running a truck and trailer by the end of the year because another employee got…
Average Seat Cost: $7,542. Seats: 70,000. Total: $527,940,000. Over half a billion dollars just from seating. They don't need or deserve our money or our attention. Then, factor in the income from advertising, food, drinks, merchandise, etc. They're expecting millions of eyes on this. They're expecting to make billions and pay their workers pennies. They don't need or deserve our money or our attention. Make the Super Bowl a non-event. Make boycotting the Super Bowl and sending a message the event. The message? The billions came from us. Never forget that. We won't. Here are some fun suggestions I have for your Super Bowl 2022 Boycott Day: Connect with family and friends however you safely can. Go to the gym, exercise, or go for a long walk. Play Football. You probably need the exercise. And it's fun. Volunteer work. Do what you did on Saturday again. Saturday…
Prices are rising for everything in Australia but our wages here remain the same. Millions of Australians are working but are still unable to make ends meet due to the rising costs of rent, food, transport, fuel. https://www.change.org/p/current-centrelink-payments-below-poverty-line The petition is linked above, if you could give it a read and a signature it would be much appreciated. Families are suffering due to this crisis

I was fired with zero notice in August. I did nothing wrong. My coworker was also fired. Even tho the boss got over 100k in ppp loans and we were only slightly below our monthly sales vs previous years except 2020, he decided it would be cheaper to fire the 3 trained people he had and hired one girl to do the work of 3 people. Today I saw the listing for the job and “multitasking is strongly discouraged” had me laughing as there is not enough time in a day to do all of the work and the whole job is a multi task. It’s been 6 months and the time off has been a blessing because I could never take vacation and he took away my using pto for days off since I could never use them for a vacation. This time off has allowed space and time…
Hi folks. I'm a volunteer helping to raise money to support the 1,100 workers voting to unionize at the Hershey Chocolate plant in Stuarts Draft, Virginia. The workers will be voting in the next few weeks via mail or in person. The date of the election and process are unclear at this point, but one thing is certain: Hershey’s is intent on crushing the union effort. They have hired the infamous Labor Relations Institute to disseminate false information and anti-union propaganda. These “consultants” cost thousands of dollars a day to employ, proof alone of what workers stand to gain if they win. Hershey’s has also set up a webpage, WeAreHersheySD.com, to further spread disinformation to workers and disrupt the fair process of an election. Most concerning is Hershey’s plan to distribute hundreds of yard signs in the community around the plant. You can see what these signs look like at…
I recently accepted an offer at a company I've been trying to get in for a few years. Put in my 2 weeks notice because one lady there is nice and relies on me quite a bit. They gave me a counter offer in a different position that I have no clue how to do. The pay was 1.5x what I'm getting now, nearly 6 figures and more pto and flexibility in scheduling. I'm not taking it. Dealing with management is not worth it. They're hemorrhaging employees at an alarming rate while doubling down on the bullshit. Can't get people in the door at $23/hr and won't adjust the long time employees at $25/hr. Won't keep me for $45 either. Learn how to treat people like you want them there.
I'm a night owl, I'm also a spoonie, and I need more income. My capacity for draining work is pretty low, but I was wondering if folks on here have any recommendations for night shift jobs where you don't have to do all that much and you're relatively autonomous/don't have someone breathing down your neck?
So I worked somewhere (don’t wanna tell) and I had a slight foot injury. The job required me to walk a lot and shortly after I started working there my injury started getting worse. I got a boot from a doctor to help and they let me work with that. However they would not let us sit so there were no chairs and we constantly had to stand/walk. To be honest though I already felt guilty that I was not able to be more efficient with my injury, plus I’m generally socially anxious, so I never asked them for accommodations and just dealt with it. I was too scared to tell them how bad it was really getting. Eventually I took leave of absence since the doctor put me on crutches for a month. But after the month was up it was Black Friday week. They scheduled my first day…
