I work in CA. I work 35 hours a week at a small business (about 13 employees). I am curious if anyone knows if employers are required to give us paid sick time to use? I’ve tried googling and I get mixed results. Currently, my employer gives us 1 week (40 hours) of PTO to use every year. This is for both vacation AND if we are sick. Are they required to give us separate sick time? It seems misleading to say we get 40 hours of PTO when we are required to use that if we want to get paid for having to call out sick. Thanks for any help you can provide!
