Partner got pushed out of Meta by manager

Sort of a long post, but really needed to vent and clear my head, My partner recently got laid off meta. And it was a totally calculated move by her manager. For starters, she was the only one laid off in her entire department, her manager and the entire team were always showing passive rascism throughout her tenure there. The team was just filled with whites.  She had gotten an exceeds expectations feedback at the beginning of the year, then this senior person who was always kind of rude, became the manager. In his mid year feedback, it was all filled with rubbish of not doing enough tickets, even though the tickets she was working on was high priority and she always got them done and ensured they were closed forever, compared to other people who did a lot of low priority work, and just played around, never came to…

My partner recently got laid off meta.

In his mid year feedback, it was all filled with rubbish of not doing enough tickets, even though the tickets she was working on was high priority and she always got them done and ensured they were closed forever, compared to other people who did a lot of low priority work, and just played around, never came to office, or worked from home. One guy got Covid 3 times in 3 months. She was told clearly in skip level meeting to concentrate on impact as well. Then she started keeping track of tickets she solved everyday because he never had any proof for what he said, and she could show him the count everyday. The feedback was filled with other bullshit items like did not fill timesheets, when the app had a bug and she had filled it, and told the manager that there is some bug with the app and it's not showing now, and showed proof that she had actually submitted.

She struggled a lot for a year, finally pulled herself together, talked to a lot of internal managers, and each person she talked to, really appreciated her for her attitude and drive, and got herself a project with another really good team for 3 months, she got an offer at the end, and was going to join that team coming January. She is very sensitive and caring, and didn't want to spoil anyone's life or family, and didn't go to the HR for that reason. But her old manager kept causing problems, kept going to her new hack manager and causing issues, and even he was like why is this guy like this, I have no issues with your work.

She finally went to her skip level manager, as he always talked about transparency and openness, he told her he was very sorry for what she went through, and that her feedback was not done in good faith, and he will look into it and collect the data. But lo and behold, she was the only one laid off in her entire department within 2 days of her going to her skip. And they are all acting very surprised, even though we were told by a HR who contacted her, that it was the  managers  decision. And was told by a colleague from different team that her entire team was laughing their hearts out the next day, including the skip.

If it was a normal layoff, it would have been expected to bounce back, but she was almost out of the toxic environment, and had another offer to join a great team, who by the way all found her profile and contacted her after she got laid off, and not one person from the old team contacted her. They tried their best to still keep her new offer, but to no avail.

I don't know how a person is supposed to bounce back after that.

Her skip and manager knew she was traveling to India, and if she gets laid off, it would be a problem to come back to US. But never said a word about it.

A very hard lesson learnt: Issues with your manager, go directly to your HR, not any senior manager or anyone else. And all their talk of inclusivity, diversity is just a big load of horse crap

We are so done with US, and looking to move to Canada or back to India. Meta was her dream company, and I don't know if she has it in herself to try again for 60 days in the current market, and for what?

We are just 26, and can rebuild our life anywhere. But it just feels so unfair that she had to lose so much because of one person
