I just need to vent. I have worked for my local government for 7 years. About 5 years ago my managers began lobbying to create a new position in our department.
Finally last month the position came through. I went through the process, applied, multiple interviews. At the end of it my friend who is in HR told me that I scored a 59/62 on the assessment. The next highest person scored a 48.
Well I just got word today that they gave the job to someone who has been here 1 year because she was already doing “part” of the job. I guess it didn’t matter that I do the other part.
Im trying not to rage here but my wife just unexpectedly got laid off last week and she’s pregnant. The civil service system is beyond fucked.
