Paycheck Discrepancy

I am a salaried employee but I have to clock in everyday. I noticed my check was short around $50 and asked HR why. They said because I was was clocked in for 79.73 hours instead of 80 so it automatically pays me in my “hourly” wage. Is this even legal? Also I actually worked 84 hours that’s pay period but I was at an out of office assignment that I didn’t have access to my computer to clock in. Is it even worth questioning even more? I found this but still don’t understand if I am entitled to the $50 I wasn’t given.
