I am a full-time student who supports myself by also working 40 hours a week. My rent for my place (a single room in a large house) has gone up to $1,049. The leasing office informed me they no longer accept money orders, I have to pay the rent online starting in August..
Paying this much in rent has already set me behind in other bills and I am having to prioritize what can be paid now and what can wait until later. (The credit card bill I was trying to pay back from foolish 18 year old exploits will have to wait.)
Anyway!! I went to the website and there is a $20 fee just to make the rent payment online. $20! Honestly, as a student who supports myself, I do not have a random $20 floating around. If I did, it would go into the gas tank. Everything I earn is used carefully. It was just so disheartening to see that. And it's just so fucking stupid that I have to pay a fee to pay my rent. The greed is limitless, you guys. I hate it here.
