Personal examples/success stories of withdrawing from traditional employee-based work.

Just curious if anyone on this sub has had positive experiences or thoughts on exiting from traditional work practices or getting into successful situations of being their own boss? Personally, I'm no longer interested in working just for the sake of having someone else make more money than me and having my daily schedule dominated by a corporation or someone I don't care for. Sacrificing my body and my time with my family to serve strangers I will never truly care for. I have no interest in climbing the ladder or participating in some rat race to simply make a ton of money for some extra luxury. I have no interest in dominating over others through my personal wealth or authority. Spending my day being told what to do or telling others what they should do has never really appealed to me. And I'm just curious where peoples heads are…
