I am a phlebotomist and I work for the American Red Cross. My Union had broke away from the main coalition of Unions because of sheer inaction for better wages, better working hours/conditions(60-80 weeks), paid sick leave(no paid covid leave either), adding paid holidays such as Martin Luther King Jr. day, and altering our insurance policies to something far more expensive which by the way covers less. The they continues refuse to acknowledge or discuss our requests and even at times lies to us directly.
Yet the American Red Cross can make a revenue of 2.91 billion but not give us a competitive wage.
Our union will be attending the first demonstrations at American Red Cross facilities nationwide. With 1,600 members we are likely going to be on the news tomorrow morning. Between 10am – 11am(EST). If anybody is sees this news please send me a link. I will post updates as time goes on.
Btw did I mention that make hundreds to thousand plus dollars from each donation you give? Aka their main source of income.
