I work as a cheesemonger for a Bariano's, a Kloger owned grocery chain in Chicago (names misspelled on purpose so they don't find this). I'm a cheesemonger in the specialty cheese department, and tonight I'm all by myself. This weekend is the fourth of July, the biggest weekend for BBQs and picnics, and I am the only one in the store responsible for making charcuterie boards right now. I've basically spent the whole damn day making them, and I'm very high strung and stressed out. I already have Asperger's so I struggle to read other's emotions and I have a slight stutter, so sometimes customer interactions stress me out.
This elderly woman sees me making a bunch of these boards, and asks me what I'm doing. I'm trying to pick the words to best explain what I'm doing and I stammer a little. She then changes her attitude to very aggressive and asks me “WHAT ARE YOU DOING!” I freeze up and panic, and she looks at me and tells me “oh I'm just kidding :)”
Don't fucking joke like that. Don't rile me up because you think it's funny when I look like deer in headlights. It fucking sucks that I constantly feel like a piece of entertainment to these goddamn customers. I'm already a high strung guy in a surprisingly stressful and busy minimum wage job, so it pisses me off to no end when people think it's ok to treat others like that. Jesus Christ. I hope she gets scammed out of her money on the HSN
