Please help me, I was misled.

Please help me. I was contacted by a recruiter for a help desk job. The job was supposed to be 100% remote, and the hours were 9-5. When I had my job interview, the recruiter told me not to tell the hiring manager that the position was remote. I asked why? He told me that they just wanted to make sure that I would be available to come into the office if it was ever needed.

I have a friend who works at this company and they told me that this is pretty normal.

I confirmed multiple times with the recruiter that the position was remote. I got an offer and signed it. I am supposed to start this Friday. The hiring manager called me and checked that I was good to start, and then told me that this is an on-site position, and that I might have to work nights.

I can’t make the commute to be onsite every day. I can’t work nights either. The recruiter completely misrepresented the job to me. I would have never quit my current job if I had known. I also don’t know if I can even go on-site because they might require the Covid vaccine, which I can’t get for personal reasons. I have screenshots of the entire conversation with the recruiter.

I know I shouldn’t have trusted the recruiter and I should have confirmed with the hiring manager too. However, hindsight is 20/20. I know I was stupid.

Is there anything I can even do at this point? I don’t even think I would be eligible for unemployment.
